Ticked times two

I'm so mad at myself right now. Last night I was all ready to post some pictures of our old apartment (last night was our first night in the new one) and, long story short, I erased all the pictures off of my memory card. There weren't only apartment pictures, there were other fun ones too! Hopefully I can find a photo store where they can fix this problem. Walgreens maybe? Ahh!
Another thing I am ticked about is this new apartment. Its not TOO bad, but there are roaches. Yes, little roaches scurrying (at least they're not the huge ones I remember from St. George)around amid the food that was left here and the dishes. Grooooooooooooss! And the people we are subletting from told me they were leaving everything except sheets and towels so my mom brought us some from home. Come to find out they didn't leave ANY bedding: no pillows, no blankets. Good thing we have two little pillows, but I definately need a blanket and I surely am not going to go buy one when we only have -4 weeks left.
How insane is that?? Less than four weeks until we go to North Carolina. Nate's hours will probably be a little better since they just made their deadline. There were times last week he worked until 3 or 5 a.m. Its been crazy but its almost over. Weird...

Scrumdidilyumptious!

Uh oh... She loves ice cream already. My bad... But its fun seeing her reaction to new foods, and she usually loves whatever is put in there which makes my life a lot easier. We went to Target yesterday and got a month's supply of smushed fruits and veggies. Yummy!!

Gramsicle and Pompa

Lil' Miss Smiley in her cute orange hat grandma bought her!

Enjoying her carrots. Thank heaven for bibs!

First time on the beach. Too bad it was such a chilly day...

One big happy family on Coney Island.

Apparently she had a rough day at church... But cute outfit from gramma!!

This last week was SUPER fun. My mom got here last tuesday morning and my dad on thursday. We had tons of fun every day. Tuesday Nate amazingly had a day off because he has been putting in so many hours. We decided to head toward Central Park to watch the St. Patty's Day parade (which consisted of bagpipes and people walking down the street, not TOO exciting). There were plenty of people but we just meandered thru the park. On wednesday my mom and I went to the mall in New Jersey and bought hardly anything! Thursday my dad got in but still had a little work to do so he stayed with the baby and my mom and I went thrift store shopping and got some books. That night my mom and I went to see Confessions of a Shopaholic (HILARIOUS) because I'm a doofas and didn't plan ahead for some Broadway tickets. Friday we went to Chinatown and spent a lot of time in the shady back rooms looking at knock-off purses (surprisingly we didn't find one we liked so we both bought one in the normal shops). We met Nate at work after seeing Grand Central Station and meandered thru Times Square (too many people!) We took a taxi home which was fun. Saturday we had lunch with a friend of my dad's. Then we meandered thru the park again and found the Zoo which was about to close so we decided to not go. That night (after going to Ground Zero and walking on the Brooklyn Bridge)my wonderful parents watched Rachael while Nate and I went to a movie (Taken, which was pretty good!). After church on sunday we made the long haul to Brooklyn to check out Coney Island. It was fun to take Rachael to the ocean but other than that the place was... not as cool as I had expected. But it was a fun experience. Now my parents have left and I'm alone with the baby yet again :( Its crazy our time here is more than half way over and this weekend we have to move to a different apartment so that will give me something to do. Thanks for playing with us mom and dad, it was SO fun!!

She fell asleep on grandma while we were at the movie. Aww!

Apparently she loves riding in taxis.

Swinging with grandpa

She was so over the stroller and fell asleep on grandpa instead.

NYC vs Idaho/Utah

Here is a list of why I love living in NYC and also a list of things I miss about the west. I think this list will end up getting longer, but right now this is what I've got.

I (heart) NYC:
Being able to say I lived in NYC
Restaurant delivery
Grocery delivery (sweet!)
Walking a ton and getting exercise
The ward playgroup
My MacLaren stroller
Thrift stores
The laundromat employees who LOVE Rachael
Quality time with Nate (not quantity :( I'm trying to be positive)
Pigeons
Hundreds of dogs wearing sweaters
Our cute apartment (pre-war, how cool is that?)
Our chapel (Relief Society on the 5th floor)
All of Rachael's firsts (subway, teeth, swings)
Our toilet that is slightly askew
The hot pipe in the bathroom that warms the bathmat
The outrageous speed of the flushing toilet (like an airplane, I kid you not)
Our huge HD television
How everyone we walk by loves Rachael and smiles at her

What I miss about the west:
Family
Wal-Mart
Mothers who are younger than 23 (I'm the odd ball in the ward)
The D.I.
A washer and dryer
Seeing my hubby
Having a bank
Outlets in the bathroom (even though Nate just barely found one, post to come)
Albertson's/Broulim's
Cheap cereal
WIC
Dollar stores
Mallory the Malibu

As a side note, here are a few things I'm not such a fan of about NYC:
Dog runs (a place where dogs can go and poop, its stinky)
Dog poop on the sidewalk
How cold it has been lately
Pigeons (I know this was something on the I love NYC list, but its a mixed feeling)
Unfriendly cashiers EVERYWHERE! Even at the pharmacy :(
Having to move to a different apartment in 3 weeks because we're staying here longer

I'm sure I could expound on a lot more and add a lot more, but that's it for now.

like mother like daughter...

So this is a picture of me right after I got into the diaper rash creme known as Penaten. And I leave the room for like three seconds today and what do I come out to find?? Rachael had busted into her own tin of Penaten. I made quite a bigger mess than she did, and I probably consumed more than she did too. Oh goodness... I can only dream of the messes we will have when Rachael realizes how to REALLY get moving. Right now its just a roll over and a skooch...

*We still do not have a new camera. This is one my sister brought for us to borrow and the flash goes off to get rid of red eye and her eyes are ALWAYS closed or half way closed. I personally would rather have red eye pictures than closed eyes, call me crazy.

*Rachael and I look nothing alike. Sorry to all those who think we do. I'll post one of Rachael and one of Nate's baby pictures later and you'll see.
